Support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart and the Voice
FAC Statement of Support for the Uluru Statement of the Heart and Constitutional enshrined Voice to Parliament.
First Australians Capital affirms our support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart and the proposed establishment of an Indigenous Voice to Parliament (Voice).
We acknowledge the unbroken sovereignty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over their lands and waters, and that it has existed – without being ceded or extinguished – for more than 60,000 years.
We commit to playing our part in taking the steps toward the principles and reforms set out as a roadmap in the Uluru Statement of the Heart. …. reforms to empower our people and take a rightful place in our own country. When we have power over our destiny, our children will flourish. They will walk in two worlds, and their culture will be a gift to their country.
Ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have a right to participate in decision making that affects them is a fundamental principle of Self Determination and achieving better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
A Voice to Parliament gives effect to this principle.
A Voice will allow us to continue to work towards a more equitable and just society, one that recognises and values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
