First Australians Capital (FAC) is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Innovation in Reporting Award (Sustainability and Social Impact) at the inaugural Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Reporting Awards, presented by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
This national recognition highlights FAC’s commitment to measuring, demonstrating, and communicating the impact of our work in a way that is transparent, meaningful, and grounded in the experiences of First Nations businesses and communities.
On Thursday evening, Jocelyn King, Chairperson and Founder, received the award on behalf of FAC:
“This recognition is about far more than reporting. It reflects the outcomes being achieved through First Nations enterprise and the growing strength of the Indigenous economy. In a highly competitive field assessed against Australia’s highest standards of reporting excellence, our Indigenous First Impact framework was recognised as a leading approach—demonstrating not only the results we achieve, but the purpose behind our work and the communities we serve”.
Reporting That Goes Beyond Numbers
At FAC, reporting is more than a compliance exercise. It is a tool for accountability, learning, and change. We believe that the stories, outcomes, and opportunities created through First Nations entrepreneurship deserve to be measured and shared in ways that reflect their true value.
Our Indigenous First Impact Framework was developed to ensure that the success of First Nations businesses is understood not only through financial performance but also through the broader social, cultural, and community outcomes they create.
This award recognises the innovation behind that approach and the work undertaken to ensure our reporting reflects the realities, aspirations, and achievements of the businesses we support.
A Recognition of Collective Impact
While the award acknowledges excellence in reporting, it ultimately reflects the impact being generated across the FAC ecosystem.
Every entrepreneur who has started or grown a business, every job created, every partnership formed, and every community strengthened contributes to the outcomes we report.
This recognition belongs to the First Nations business leaders who continue to demonstrate resilience, innovation, and ambition. It also reflects the contributions of our investors, partners, supporters, and team members who work together to unlock economic opportunity and create pathways for long-term prosperity.
Setting a New Standard
As the impact investment and social enterprise sectors continue to grow, there is increasing demand for reporting that is both rigorous and meaningful. FAC is committed to leading in this space by ensuring our reporting captures what matters most to First Nations businesses and communities.
We know that true impact cannot always be measured by financial metrics alone. It includes strengthening self-determination, building community wealth, creating employment, and supporting future generations of First Nations entrepreneurs.
Being recognised for Innovation in Reporting affirms the importance of measuring these outcomes and sharing them in ways that are accessible, transparent, and accountable.
Looking Ahead
This award is an important milestone, but it is not the destination.
FAC remains focused on our mission to increase access to capital, strengthen First Nations businesses, and transform the systems that have historically limited economic participation. As we continue this work, we will keep refining how we measure and communicate impact, ensuring that the stories and achievements of First Nations businesses remain at the centre.
We thank everyone who has been part of this journey and look forward to continuing to demonstrate the power of First Nations-led economic development.
Together, we are building a stronger, more prosperous First Nations economy.
